article imageBush wipes his hand on Clinton's shirt after greeting Haitians

By Cynthia Trowbridge     Mar 28, 2010 in Politics
Port-au-prince - Former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton were in Haiti visiting a refugee camp and shaking hands with some of the Haitians in a refugee camp. After shaking hands with a resident, Bush appears to be wiping his hand on Clinton's sleeve.
President Barack Obama had asked G.W Bush and Bill Clinton to go to Haiti and tour the area of the earthquake. They were to visit with the earthquake victims in an effort to spearhead U.S. fund-raising to help ease the crisis for those affected.
Video footage shows Bush and Clinton shaking hands of the Haitians. After shaking hands the video shows Bush's hand just hanging limply in the air. He then looks at Clinton who is just ahead of him, wearing a white shirt. He puts his hand on Clinton's shoulder and draws it down the length of his arm.
The sequence was posted on YouTube and has been going viral around the world.
Mr Bush is known for his fastidiousness. The Huffington Post writes that President Obama tells of being at the White House to meet with then President Bush. After they shook hands Bush turned to an aide who put a glob of hand sanitizer on the President's hands. Obama shrugged it off as Bush wanting to keep from catching a cold or the flu.
