Before President Obama signed the health care bill today, Vice President Joe Biden let slip some profanity when the microphones were still live. He leaned into the President's ear and whispered, “This is a big f---ing deal.”
There are a lot of words that both proponents and opponents of health care can use to describe the legislation that President Obama signed into effect on Tuesday. While introducing the president,
Vice President Joe Biden leaned into the President's ear and whispered, “This is a big f---ing deal.”
What the Vice President didn't know was that the microphone on the podium was live and caught the interaction between the two men. President Obama played it cool, not reacting to the choice of verbiage from his Vice President and just thanked him and quickly moved to the podium to speak.
The "slippage" came after Biden spent a few minutes introducing Obama. At one point he even commented that he was probably embarrassing the president for going on the way he was.
The White House later laughed off Biden's comments through a Twitter-tweet by
Press Secretary Robert Gibb who wrote, "And yes, Mr. Vice President, you're right ..."
