So all the post-fight analysis about the Pacquiao-Clottey fight went berserk and still making a million hates over the Internet.
Love it or not, 51,000 or so fans inside the billion-dollar stadium in Dallas are still nodding their heads in disbelief up to now.
What about the million boxing-crazy people that watched the live fight beamed on PPV expecting a knockout? I remember when I was younger playing war-games and when everyone started to throw cow's dung to each other, all we heard was 'take cover'. I don't want to elaborate because I, too was expecting a bombshell.
Well on the other side of the DMZ, another fighter who had the reputation to ducked a multimillion fight has lashed out again at Pacman. Let me quote one popular commentator and follow what he said:
"Mayweather's response? Pacquiao is a one-dimensional fighter and the fight was boring. Well, ain't that ironic? Because the lat time I checked, the guy that gave Pacquiao those entertaining wars and fans the fight of the year last year when he faced Juan Diaz -- I'm talking about Juan Manuel Marquez -- Floyd managed to turn that mismatch into a one-sided slumber party. The post-fight interview was actually a lot more exciting. The smaller Marquez engaged him all night long while he was content on pot-shooting and lulling the crowd to sleep for a sure win."
This line is very well-said and it only shows the caliber of Mayweather as a fighter. He, too, is a boring fighter. True enough, he got his opponents knocked down, sometimes, but Floyd never fought like a true fighter in the likes of Pacman and Juan Manuel Marquez. Two tiny fighters with a big heart who never backed down and never afraid to test the enemies’ mettle.
Here comes two big men, in the same category and with similar style. One a ducker and the other, who loves to cover all night long. These two guys have one common goal - to save face, come out clean, and avoid a gallant fight. Yes, like cleaning the boxing world against PED’s and all that. Only few people would buy that actually. I guess the Nevada Athletic Commission is doing something discreetly about it even with USADA about to administer the drug testing for Mosley and Mayweather. These people inside the commission are no push-over to understand what’s going on.
Having said that, we don’t know where Clottey stands in the welterweight ranking after his fight against Pacquiao but, no matter where he stood now he is still a legitimate contender to fight Mayweather.
But the problem is, how would their trainers come up with strategies when their two fighters with similar styles, and both 'legit' defensive specialists square each other?
And if ever that will happen, expect a very interesting fight.
