Girls who try to go drink for drink with a boy are at a higher risk of alcohol poisoning, according to new research. Girls have less water in their bodies than boys do. That means it takes less alcohol to get them drunk. Boys have more enzymes to break down alcohol. That makes it easier for their bodies to metabolize drinks. Girls also tend to go for sweeter mixed drinks when they party. Those high-sugar drinks can speed up the absorption of alcohol into the bloodstream.
