Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called a rocket attack from Gaza on Israel “totally unacceptable” today. An innocent civilian was killed from the explosion at the Netiv Ha'assera kibbutz.
A Thai agricultural worker is the latest victim in the continuing violence between Gaza and Israel.
Jund Ansar al-Sunna has claimed responsibility for the attack. The small organization is an anti-Western jihadist with ties to al-Queda according to the New York Times.
"This jihadi attack is an answer to Zionist aggression against the Al Aqsa Mosque and holy sites and our people in Jerusalem," the group said in a statement released to the Herald Sun.
At a news conference in Gaza Lady Catherine Ashton, the EU's top diplomat said:
"I'm extremely shocked by the rocket attack and the tragic loss of life. I said when I came to Israel that part of the reason for my trip to this region is to express my concern that we move as quickly as we can to proximity talks."
UN's Ban also sent out a strong message against the attack:
“All such acts of terror and violence against civilians are totally unacceptable and contrary to international law.”
