The United States Senate passed the $17.6 billion jobs bill Wednesday. The bill will now be moved to the President's desk where it can be signed into law.
The Legislation passed the United States senate with a 68-29 vote.
The bill will try to help small businesses and highway funding which Legislators are hoping will spur job growth.
The proposal was sponsored by Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) that would according to
Politico.com, exempt companies that hire out of work employees from payroll taxes through the end of the year. Businesses that hire new employees would also get a $1,000 tax credit if they keep the workers for at least a year.
Schumer said, according to the
Washington Post, "The beauty of this bill: It's simple, it's focused on private-sector job growth and it's paid-for."
The Democrats are promising more job legislation; however they do caution it is going to be a slow process.
