It's been a rough winter for Pennsylvania, as well as other Eastern states. But Fayette County is gaining attention for being an area where people claim they have spotted a Sasquatch.
Dunbar, Pennsylvania -- One can blame the rash of new sightings on cabin fever induced by a hard winter, but the truth is, Pennsylvania, for those not in the know, is a hot-bed of paranormal activity. 2009 saw 350 UFO sightings reported alone. Researcher Stan Gordon has investigated reports of the strange in Pennsylvania for 50 years, and he says that Fayette County, where Dunbar is situated, saw an unusual number of Bigfoot sightings in the last half of 2009. Fayette residents have reported Bigfoot sightings for the past 40 or so years.
There have been 8 reported sightings since last year in Fayette County. And there is a wild story circulating about a teen-aged male followed through the woods by a Sasquatch. One Bigfoot researcher, Eric Altman, told local press
"Since the name of the witness in the newspaper account was kept confidential, I feel that people experiencing the same phenomena are now more comfortable and are coming forth to tell their stories."
The most recent sighting was reported by Heath Landman and his son, Nickolas. The pair claim they encountered a Sasquatch on January 31st, and even collected hair they allege came from the elusive and thus far mystical creature. Bigfoot and UFO researcher, Eric Altman, told the Herald-Standard the hair would be tested to see what animal it came from, but did not tell the paper the results of any preliminary testing.
Fayette County was settled in the late 1700s. Fayette County is also home to Frank Lloyd Wright's famous house, Falling Water.
