article imageCameroon soccer player attacks fan after match in Iran

By David Silverberg.
A soccer player from Cameroon suddenly attacked fans at the end of a match in Iran. In a video leaked online, John Negodi is shown swinging fists and head-butting people from the stands.
It looked like a one-man riot: Cameroon soccer player John Negodi ran to the stands and sidelines to attack attendees. His team Payam Khorasan lost the match against Iran's Tarbiat Mashhad but there are no details on what instigated the attack.
Other players may have been involved in an altercation before Negodi's attack.
In a video uploaded to LiveLeak.com, Negodi is seen throwing punches at bystanders, although most of the punches miss their mark. When officials attempted to escort him off the pitch, he then ran after a man in the middle of the field, head-butting him and then shaking free from police to attack another man. He looked angry enough to attack anyone within sight.
A few moments after Negodi chased the man mid-field, he is then corralled by officials and taken off the pitch. It is unclear if Negodi will face any charges or suspensions from his league.
In other soccer-riot news, two people have been injured in Sao Paulo when fans of the losing home team threw a homemade bomb into the visitors' dressing room. According to IOL, "angry fans then invaded the playing field and joined the melee."
