After being sidelined for several months after a sex scandal, PGA champion Tiger Woods will return to golf in April at the Masters.
Tiger Woods will end his four-month hiatus from golf when he returns to the sport at the Masters on April 8, according to the
Associated Press. Woods has not competed since Nov. 18 when he won the Australian Masters for his 82nd victory worldwide. Twelve days later, he was in a car accident and the public soon found out about his
infidelities.
For the last month, there have been several
reports that state he would be returning to golf at the Tavistock Cup in Florida on March 22 but that was not the case.
Score Golf reports that Woods personally called Joe Lewis and Arnold Palmer to apologize for not attending or competing at the Tavistock Cup.
“The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it's been a while since I last played,” said Woods. The world's no. 1 ranked golfer further added that he has undergone therapy for two months and he is continuing his treatment at the present time, “Although I'm returning to competition, I still have a lot of work to do in my personal life.”
It was projected that if Woods took the entire year off then the golf industry could have faced losses up to $220 million, reports
Bloomberg News.
The first two rounds of the Masters are expected to televised on
ESPN and then the final two rounds would be broadcasted on
CBS.
