Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was arraigned Tuesday afternoon on a probation violation charge. He was released on $10,000 personal bond.
Kwame Kilpatrick stood silently as a not guilty
plea was entered on his behalf.
Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Kenny said on Thursday, he will rule on a defense motion to take Judge David Groner off the case. Outside of the courthouse, the shunned mayor claims to "stay up at night" trying to figure out how to get money to pay restitution.
"This is what I want to do. I want this off my back."
This is the same mayor who currently resides in a $1 million home in Southlake, Texas, a suburb of nearby Dallas.
He said, “If I had the money, I would pay it.”
He continued by apologizing yet again to Detroit, saying, “I’m so sorry the city has to go through this.”
