Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced during a meeting with Zimbabwe Minister of State for Presidential Didymus Mutasa in Tehran on Monday that Iran will stand by Zimbabwe as much as possible as the West continue to impose sanctions, according to

Throughout the meeting, the Iranian President commended Zimbabwe for standing its ground against “illegal pressure” and praised the African nation for its resistance against the Western sanctions.
Near the end of the meeting, Ahmadinejad urged for the agreements that were signed by the two nations to be implemented, while the Zimbabwe Minister asked Iran to increase its cooperation and investment for the former nation of Rhodesia.
“Fortunately, the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Zimbabwe are moving forward in the right direction. The nations of Africa enjoy all the necessary capacities for development and progress and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to develop ties (with Africa) in all fields,” said Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, reports
