Several researchers have revealed the curative effects of drinking red wine. They say Drinking red wine can reduce the effects of radiation and fight obesity.
When consumed in moderation, red wine can reduce the toxic effect of radiation for women who had breast cancer, particularly curing the irritated skin caused by radiation.
Researchers in Germany had found that a compound present in grapes and red wine called Resveratrol, reduces the number of fat cells and may be used to treat and prevent obesity.
"The new finding is consistent with the theory that the resveratrol in red wine explains the French paradox, the observation that French people eat a relatively high-fat diet but have a low death rate from heart disease."
Other than red wine, beer and other spirits can also reduce obesity in women. These alcohol types showed the same inverse association between alcohol intake and risk of becoming overweight or obese, the study found.
A couple of glasses can take a pound off for women rather than women who never drink at all, according to study published Monday. But the best drink to keep the pounds off is of course red wine.
Researchers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston conducted the study for more than 13 years involving 19,000 women who were aged 39 or older and asked how many alcoholic beverages they typically drank in a day. Over this period, the study revealed that women who never drink at all gained pounds while women who drank an equivalent of two drinks a day we the least likely to gain weights.
While drinking red wine and other spirits are good for your health, researchers cautioned against making recommendations on alcohol use to fight obesity, given the potential effects of drinking too much which could led to medical and psycho-social problems.
