British supermodel Naomi Campbell has received an apology from the driver who accused her of assaulting him as he drove 39-year-old Ms Campbell through New York on Tuesday.
As Digital Journal reported Naomi Campbell returned to the news for all the wrong reasons earlier this week when she was accused of hitting from behind the driver of the black Cadillac Escalade in which she was traveling through Manhattan. She allegedly caused the driver to hit his head on the steering wheel.
After hitting the driver she was supposed to have fled the scene on foot when the car was brought to a halt.
But now it transpires that Ms Campbell, whose tempestuous behavior has landed her with various orders to perform community service and attend anger management classes in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K., was wrongly accused by the driver now named as 27-year-old Miodrag Mejdina.
On Thursday, two days after the incident that never was, or was not as extreme as first claimed, Mejdina issued an apology through his lawyer which the London Times reports as stating:On March 2, I had an argument with Naomi Campbell, I got angry and overreacted. It was a misunderstanding and I regret involving the police. This whole thing has been blown out of proportion and I apologise to Ms Campbell for causing that to happen
Ms Campbell then signaled her willingness to forget about the incident, issuing a statement of her own which the Press Association confirms read as follows:On Tuesday March 2 I was accused of unacceptable behaviour towards a driver in New York. I have worked very hard on correcting my previous wrongdoings and I will not be held hostage to my past. I try to treat everyone with respect and I am pleased the driver has apologised. I would like to put the last few days behind me and move on
According to the London Times, prior to indicating he would not press charges against Ms Campbell, Mejdina had claimed that the supermodel's violent behavior had been prompted by an argument with her billionaire Russian boyfriend.
That boyfriend is Vladislav (Vlad) Doronin and it is not clear precisely when, where or how that argument came about.
Supposedly dubbed the "Donald Trump of Russia" Doronin reportedly still lives with his wife and teenage daughter when he is in London and, apparently content with an open marriage, does not plan to divorce.
Commenting on Ms Campbell being exonerated Hollyscoop says that perhaps she "really is a changed woman!", adding:We sure hope so, because the old Naomi was pretty scary!
