Well known Evangelist Benny Hinn has spoken out about the announcement that his wife of 30 years, Suzanne Hinn, has filed for divorce.
As previously reported on Digital Journal, Suzanne Hinn, wife of Benny Hinn, filed for divorce on Feb. 1. The couple have been married for more than 30 years and have four grown children.
Hinn said he is praying that God will heal his marriage.
Charisma News Online reports Hinn wrote a letter posted on his website that indicates he knew his wife has been under great stress, but he and their children "never expected this to happen."
He wrote: "Divorce was the last thing on my mind and theirs. Suzanne never gave the family even a hint that this was on her mind. Even to this moment, the children and I don't know why she did it. ... I love my wife, and I am praying that the Lord Himself will take care of this and bring healing to my precious family."
Hinn said his wife's attorney called him Feb.17 to inform him his wife had filed for divorce. He said he was in "total shock." He said not even her parents knew she had filed for divorce until he called and told them.
Suzanne Hinn has remained silent but Benny Hinn now spoken out about the divorce announcement;
CBN.com reports Hinn posted a three-page statement to his partners stating that his wife has no "biblical grounds for divorce."
Benny wrote, "I also want you, my very dear partner, to know that there was absolutely no immorality involved in my life or in Suzanne's, ever. We both kept our lives clean and were totally committed to each other for 30 years of marriage."
Benny said the family was never given even a hint that she was filing for divorce and they still don't know why she did. Benny is asking for his supporters to continue praying for his family's healing and he said he will continue his call to the ministry.
"I want you, as my partner in this ministry, to know that I am going to continue preaching the Gospel and praying for the sick as I have for 36 years," Benny said. "I will not allow anything to slow me down or stop me."
The full statement from Hinn can be found here.
Hinn has traveled the world with his healing and evangelistic ministry. Among them are Holy Spirit Miracle Crusades, TV broadcasts and ministry training conferences.
Ministry officials said they covet the prayers and support Benny and his family at this difficult time in their life.
