Austin - Reports indicate a small plane has crashed into an office building in Austin, Texas. More to follow as local reports filter in.
A small, single-engine plane has reportedly crashed into an Austin, Texas building.
A nearby building, not involved with the crash, is home to several local FBI offices. At this point the FBI believes terrorism is not involved.
Firefighters have responded to a 2-alarm fire caused by the crash. The fire is largely contained, but traffic on highway 183 is being diverted. No word on casualties as of yet, although the building is being evacuated. The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, which could have been the launching point for the aircraft, is 17 miles away.
Local live video of nearby highways can be viewed here.
Stay tuned for updates.
UPDATE:
Fox news is reporting that the pilot intentionally crashed the plane into the building, according topreliminary information from National Transportation Safety Board. An investigation is underway on an earlier fire incident involving the pilot’s home, shortly before the plane crash. The Austin-Bergstrom Airport states that the plane did not take off from their airport. Most likely the plane took off from a smaller aviation center where flight plans may not be a requirement.
