By Michael Bearak     Feb 13, 2010 in Sports
Former St. Louis Rams' receiver Torry Holt has expressed interest in joining his former coach, Mike Martz, now a part of the Chicago Bears' coaching staff.
The addition of Mike Martz to the Chicago Bears' coaching staff brings hopes of invigorating an offense and giving them direction along with helping stabilize quarterback Jay Cutler and his interception prone throwing techniques.
Now former St. Louis Rams' receiver Torry Holt has expressed interest in joining his former coach as a receiver for the Bears. Holt is a free-agent after spending last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, his agent has expressed interest in Holt rejoining Martz on the Bears team.
Holt explained how a Mike Martz offense is has to involve the run as well as the pass and Holt feels that he can help Culter learn the offense and bring a mature presence to the Bears' offense.
Prior to last season the Bears had expressed interest in Torr Holt, but later decided to go with their younger receiving corp.
Holt will be 34 this year, but has expressed interest in being a part of the Bears' franchise. Holt stated, "I would again consider coming to Chicago and helping that football team out, helping Jay Cutler in terms of helping him get settled in that offense and give him a quality and consistent weapon play after play along with Hester and Aromashodu and Knox and Bennett and Forte and Olsen, I mean the list goes on and on with the talent that they have. I think I could fit in really well with that ballclub and add a really good veteran presence."
On Friday Holt was interviewed on ESPN 1000 as part of the "The Waddle & Silvy Show" where he talked more about Martz and the Bears saying, "That's my guy. I've got a lot of history with Coach Martz, a lot of great years there obviously in St. Louis. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him as a man and as a coach. Most importantly what I respect the most is his mind. I respect his passion for the game of football. I respect the standards he sets everyday."
