It was a cold day in more than one way when a New York woman reported that a mugger stole her dog's wool winter coat from him.
For years New York City has been infamous for the number of mugging that occur there every year. But it was a cold day in a hellish scenario when a Westie terrier had his doggie coat stolen off his back.
Donna McPherson of Brooklyn, New York, described her white West Highland Terrier, Lexie, as a “mild-mannered” little dog, so she said she was surprised when she heard him let out a “funny” bark as she was purchasing a quart of milk.
McPherson said had tied the dog up outside Park Slope supermarket for “two minutes” while she ran in to get the milk.
When McPherson left the store she said she found her little shivering dog minus his green wool coat with leather trim and a belt. She said the coat was worth $25, and she was very glad he wasn’t wearing his much more expensive Burberry coat.
The terriers, commonly called Westies, are between 15 and 20 pounds and from 9- to 11-inches tall.
There was no mention if the theft was reported to police.
