Toronto - A man and teen are accused of brazenly robbing multiple students Tuesday during the lunch period near a school in the Leaside area of Toronto.
On Tuesday at 12:30 pm police responded to a call for a person with a gun in the Eglinton Avenue East and Bayview Avenue area.
Constable Wendy Drummond said during a phone interview that police arrested a man and a teen in connection to 11 robberies near Leaside High School.
The accused allegedly robbed each of the victims one on one using an imitation handgun.
"The gun looked very real. All of the victims thought it was real."
The victims were told to hand over what they had. Most of the victims only had pocket change on hand.
"We believe that there are more victims in this case."
Constable Drummond said that students who are robbed in this manner should go to school resource employees.
"We encourage the students to report these kind of incidents. As you can see from the situation on Tuesday several people can be victimized. By reporting a situation that you have encountered you can stop others from becoming victims."
Daniel Roofe, 22, of Toronto has been charged with eight counts of robbery while armed with a firearm, three charges of robbery and carrying a concealed weapon.
A minor, 16, has been charged with eight counts of robbery while armed with a firearm, three charges of robbery and carrying a concealed weapon.
