“Lap Dance for Haiti” was the theme of a fundraising event held in a Toledo, Ohio, strip club for the Haitian earthquake relief fund.
The strip club, Marilyn’s on Monroe, raised $1,000 by donating the $10 cover charge each patron paid.
The money went to ISOH/IMPACT, a permanent charity in Perrysburg that provides food and clothing for Haiti.
As a way to improve the
image of strip clubs, Kenny Soprano, Marilyn’s general manager, said his club had been looking for ways to hold charity fundraisers, and when the earthquake in Haiti struck, it seemed to be the the perfect place to start.
He added:
… you don’t hear much about strip clubs giving back to the community.
Asked if ISOH/IMPACT had a problem with receiving a donation from a strip club, Linda Greene, the organization’s CEO, said they didn’t have a problem with the donor. Help from any source is appreciated, she added.
