In the newest adventure of Marvel Comics' Captain America, our superhero sets off in dogged pursuit of America's latest and greatest mortal threat: Tea Partiers. What is contained within the pages of Captain America #602 is both shocking and disturbing.
Captain America, the patriotic All-American Marvel Comics superhero, first appeared on US news stands and comic book racks in March 1941. The storyline begins with Steve Rogers, a sickly young man made superhuman by an experimental serum in order to aid America's war effort. After the attack on Pearl Harbor nine months later, Cap cut his superhero teeth by taking on Hitler and the Nazis. That was just the beginning of a long and storied 70-year career that would see Cap fighting the greatest threats to world peace both real and imagined. It would culminate with Cap's induction into the legion of Marvel superheroes known as the
Avengers, born at Marvel in March 1964.
Today, Captain America still enjoys great popularity, and is scheduled for his first major big screen debut
next July. Yet in #602, the latest edition of Captain America titled
TWO AMERICAS, Steve Rogers'
flag-draped alter ego and his African-American superhero partner, the
Falcon, have been assigned the task of
infiltrating and rounding up a group of anti-government White Supremacist survivalists known as the Watchdogs. In order to get a feel for what these evil and all-white Watchdog anti-government anti-tax redneck racists are all about, Cap and Falcon begin their preliminary observations from a rooftop overlooking, you guessed it, a
Tea Party. The sign slogans are
identical to those used at protests all over America last year. The protesters are also a sea of white in #602, and it's all downhill from there. Gives new meaning to the word comical, only I ain't laughing.
Get a load of this American superhero dialogue, people!
(
CAPTAIN AMERICA AND FALCON OBSERVING TEA PARTY FROM ROOFTOP)
FALCON: What the hell is this, Cap?
CAPTAIN AMERICA: Looks like some kind of anti-tax protest.
FALCON: So I guess the whole 'hate the government' vibe around here isn't limited to the Watchdogs.
(CAP DISCUSSES FALCON INFILTRATING THE WATCHDOGS)
FALCON: I don’t exactly see a black man from Harlem fitting in with a bunch of angry white folks.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: No, it's perfect. It all fits right into my plan.
So, if you are a Tea Partier, congratulations! You've just made the list of Captain America's arch-enemies, right along with Hitler and
Red Skull! Feeling good yet? Unfortunately, this is nothing new or even unusual from the American Left since the Tea Parties first launched last April. Janet Napolitano rushed out the door a DHS handbook on right wing extremism that matched the Republican party platform
point for point.
Tea Partiers have also been a favorite target of late for TV's
Law and Order. In the episode
FED, in which police found the mutilated body of a census worker with FED scrawled across his chest (
sound familiar?), cast member John Laroquette went off on a tangent railing against "Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck and the rest of them" responsible in spirit for the magic-markered murder victim (which in real life was deemed a staged suicide). O'Reilly had some choice words on his Factor show in response, declaring
Law and Order "
out of control" and debunking the many untruths written into FED, most particularly regarding his longtime support of a humane solution to illegal immigration.
Not that truth ever gets in the way of good political Hollywood Lefty slander of anyone to the right of Lenin. We Americans have come to expect a degree of liberal left-wing propaganda from Hollywood in TV shows and mainstream films. It's the nature of the beast. Yet it is the studios' and film producers' rights to make those propagandist films and TV shows, even writing
eco-correctness into all the networks' major TV shows to push Obama's Cap-and-Trade bill. Just as it also our right to refuse to patronize such films and TV shows.
Law and Order is free to die in the ratings (which it is), just as Brian de Palma's
Redacted was free to suffer the
worst domestic box office ever for a significant release by a major Hollywood director. It's their money, and America is a free country last I checked. Been getting kinda iffy lately with stories like these.
As Americans, Hollywood Leftists are as free to make whatever political bombs they like as we are to deny them our business and viewership in rejection of them. But long-established creative properties that are now American legacies should be off limits for politicization. Unfortunately, it would seem no avenue is being left open by the Left in order to slander and defile millions of ordinary Americans who would dare oppose our liberal progressive tax-and-spend government. I believe Marvel has crossed the line in the political sand here. For seventy years Captain America was a hero to us all, the lines between good and evil clearly drawn, the storytelling excellent for the most part. Now I find myself on the wrong side of Captain America.
Wasn't
dissent patriotic not all that long ago? What happened to our country, that I now find myself an enemy of Captain America in my own land? Not the butcher Ahmadinejad or the genocidal Omar Bashir. Tea Partiers! Us! Do any of you remember Captain America taking on the radical anti-war Left that had created an
assassination cult around Bush? Me neither. Hmm. Curious. Suffice it to say that I have been a Marvel Comics fan and collector for over forty years now. That long streak has now come to a dead stop.
Today, Marvel has lost me and all my future business. Film, comics, everything. In making me and millions of other concerned American citizens exercising our rights of free speech Captain America's new domestic arch-villains, Marvel has made an enemy of me for the first time in my fifty years of existence on this planet. That's quite an achievement. And now it is our turn to make Marvel pay a price for turning us all into white supremacist domestic terrorist caricatures, just as the rest of the American Left has tried so desperately to portray us ever since our overwhelming rejection of Obama's and liberal Democrats' policies began last year.
Here is the email, phone number and other contact information for
Marvel Comics. I recommend you email Mr. Jeff Klein at Dan Klores Communications, which handles media relations for Marvel. The comics giant definitely needs some communicating to by the defamed armies of Captain America's newly declared arch-enemies. That is not who we are, and to slander us in Goebbels-like fashion in an American legacy comic book series targeted directly at our impressionable youth is unforgivable. Let's take America back!
