If you were one of the estimated 106 million people who witnessed the Super Bowl, you saw the New Orleans Saints reach pro football heaven.
It took them 42 years, but the Saints marched in. The team and the city have been underdogs for a long time. We all saw what happened to the city following Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. The flooding after the levee broke exposed some of the problems the city has. They include: poverty, crime, run down neighborhoods and the like. Yesterday even if you were not a Saints fan, you had to feel good about what the team accomplished. They beat the Indianapolis Colts and 2009 MVP quarterback Peyton Manning.
The MVP of the Super Bowl was Saints quarterback Drew Brees. Brees displayed poise and played a masterful game. He is an MVP off the field as well. He and his wife have a foundation that helps a lot of people in the New Orleans area. That is something we as human beings can feel good about. A well paid athlete who cares about others and gives from his abundance to make life better for others. Congratulations New Orleans! The 'Crescent City' is shines again.
