Both of these teams had the no. 1 spot in the NCAA men's basketball rankings, but Kansas showed they are no. 1 by beating Texas.
In Austin, Texas the no. 1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks took on the no. 14 Texas Longhorns at the Frank Erwin Special Events Center. The Texas Longhorns were looking to make a statement tonight by beating on the Kansas Jayhawks and return to the top ranking in the polls.
Kansas is looking to never loose that top ranking the rest of this season and wanted to make a statement to a very good Longhorn team. The first half went back and forth until Kansas went on a streak to finish the half with a 34-24 lead. The Jayhawks never seemed to be in trouble during the second half and dominated the Longhorns to 80-68 win.
The Kansas Jayhawks had three players score in double digits, but was lead by big men Marcus Morris with 18 points and 8 rebounds and prized point guard Sherron Collins added 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The Texas Longhorns had two players score over 20 points and one player was from the bench. Damion James led all starters with 24 points and 10 rebounds and J'Covan Brown put up 28 points to lead all players off the bench.
