A woman, 79, was assaulted on Monday as she was entering a grocery store in the Morningside Avenue and Milner Avenue area.
The suspect is said to have shoplifted a number of items and then assaulted the security guard as he left the store.
As he ran from the store he pushed the elderly woman to the ground.
The man then hopped into a taxi fleeing the scene.
The woman had serious non-life threatening injuries. Constable Tony Vella said in a brief phone interview that the woman was released from hospital on Monday.
"We're hoping that someone sees his picture and can tell us who he is."
The suspect is described as white, 30−35, 5’6", 120 lbs., brown hair, green eyes and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and a light−coloured hoodie.
