The 22-year-old mother of two stabbed her young sons to death, then calmly allowed police officers to handcuff her when they arrived at her home.
Elyse Marsyl Colon is being held Wednesday on two counts of capital murder of a child in the deaths of her two sons. Her bond was set at $2 million in the stabbing deaths of Jose Luis Garcia, age 3 and Guillermo Garcia age 1.
When police officers arrived at her home Tuesday evening Colon was standing outside of her home waiting for them to arrive. When police asked Colon what happened she responded, "I killed my babies" and put her hands behind her back.
San Antonio police Chief William McManus, "Words cant describe the scene, it was unspeakably sad."
After kicking in the locked front door, officers found the boys lying on a bed.
When the police placed her in their car she allegedly told them, "Their father was in jail, I want him to know."
A search of public records found Louis Alonso Garcia, who lived at the same address, and was arrested back in September of last year for illegal entry and family assault.
State child welfare officials were still looking into whether their agency had previously investigated the family.
Angelica Puentes, a neighbor of the the 22-year-old Colon talked about speaking with her a few times and that she always seemed like she was in a daze.
Puentes told San Antonio's KSAT, "They cant speak for themselves, they can't defend themselves. They're very vulnerable right now. She just took advantage of that for whatever reason, I don't know."
