Teens gunned down at party in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico

By KJ Mullins     Feb 1, 2010 in Crime
Residents in Ciudad Juarez were left shaken Sunday after 14 people including 10 teenagers were gunned down at a birthday party.
Most of the slain were students, massacred by gunmen who opened fire at an area home to celebrate a friend's birthday.
Ten of the 14 victims were aged 13 to 19. Two of the victims were adult males, ages 35 and 42. The other two deceased victims are believed to be teenagers. Fourteen additional victims, mostly teens were in hospital on Sunday night.
Juárez Mayor Jose Reyes Ferriz is offering a reward of $76,000 for information leading to the killers.
Dallas News reports:
"We've never had a tragedy like this one," said Alfredo Quijano, editor of Norte de Ciudad Juárez, which has been documenting the rash of killings that began in January 2008. "We've had students targeted, or young teens killed at rehab centers, bars, but never a group of students gathered among friends. This is one of the saddest days in Juárez."
