Juan Manuel Marquez will fight Amir Khan for the WBA junior welterweight title on May 18. Marquez aims to become the only Mexican boxer to win world titles in four different weight divisions.
The fight was easily made when Amir Khan signed up with Golden Boy promotions, who also promotes Marquez. The venue of the fight is still in the works according to Hard Core Sports Radio.
Marquez will have an advantage in terms of fight experience in this coming fight. He did not look good against Mayweather partly because he was coming up in weight and his body has not adjusted well at the heavier weight category. But nobody has look good against Floyd Jr.
Amir Khan's boxing abilities are still questioned by many fans and experts. His victory over Dmitri Salita didn't raise his credentials. You cannot say a lot of things with a one round stoppage.
Amir stopped Barrera but there boxing experts say that there is a kind of hometown decision there. The fight was allowed to continue even if Barrera suffered a deep cut in his forehead in the early rounds.
The fight will surely be a pay per view hit since both men have a large following in their own countries. Juan Marquez is a well-known boxing commodity in Mexico and United States and Amir's British fans will be on the venue come fight time.
