article imagePoll: Feingold trails Thompson in Wisconsin Senate Race

By Oliver VanDervoort     Jan 28, 2010 in Politics
In what seems to be an ongoing stream of bad news for the 'Liberal Left', yet another Democratic Senator appears to suddenly be in trouble come November of this year.
Wisconsin Senator Russ Feingold, one of the more liberal members of the Democratic Caucus, currently finds himself trailing Republican Tommy Thompson by four percent in a new Rasmussen Poll.
Thompson served as governor of Wisconsin from 1987 to 2001 and was appointed secretary of Health and Human Services under President George W. Bush’s.
The numbers showing Thompson winning this race are very hypothetical at the moment, as he as of yet has not decided whether he'll seek a Senate seat or not.
Feingold is seeking a fourth six-year term in the Senate this November.
Most important in this poll is the leanings of the Independents, and at least for now, Thompson is winning that demographic handily, at the moment, 53 percent to 36 percent.
