article imageWhistleblower wins case against Lockheed Martin

By KJ Mullins     Jan 27, 2010 in Business
A whistleblower has prevailed against Lockheed Martin in court. The former director of communications for Lockheed Martin in Colorado Springs has won a judgment that should get her job back with lost pay and benefits.
The employee blew the whistle on her boss, Wendy Owen, who was allegedly having affairs with US Army soldiers and billing the government for expenses related to the affairs.
Andrea Brown resigned from her position in 2008 after work conditions became intolerable.
Judge Russell Pulver ruled that Brown was a victim of retaliation when she spoke out. Pulver wrote in his decision that Lockheed was protecting the company and their vice president at the expense of Brown who "simply followed the company's policy to report suspect activities within the company."
A spokesperson at Lockheed Martin said that the company believes the claim is without merit and plan to appeal the decision.
Wendy Owen is no longer with Lockheed.
