Defne Bayrak is the widow of the suicide bomber that left 7 CIA operatives dead in Afghanistan. He was also a double agent.
Humam al Belawi was a devote Muslim studying at the university in Istanbul when he met his wife Defne Bayrak. When the two met she had just started following a stricter interpretation of Islam, and he was a medical student with strong religious views.
CNN was fortunate enough to interview her in Istanbul Turkey. They met on a cold day outside of a mosque close to Bayrak's home. She didn't feel it would be appropriate to meet an unknown man indoors.
She immediately was laying ground rules as she also would not talk about her feelings towards her husband when they first met, she would not be intimate insights.
The young couple moved to Jordan when Belawi completed his medical studies, and he went to work at a Palestinian refugee camp just outside of Amman. The couple was happy, his hours of work were short and the pay was good.
Still Bayrak describes a conflict that was growing inside of her husband. He was writing and posting blogs and he wanted to join the fight but he chose to write about his anger instead.
When their first child was born both of them were writing. Belawi had his blog, while Bayrak was writing books in praise of Osama bin Laden. She explained how they were in tune with each other and, "we were sharing our views with each other."
Both of them shared an anger towards the United States for their invasion of Iraq. When Belawi volunteered to fight in Iraq with jihadist groups he was turned down. What he was asked to do instead was to help raise and collect money.
Their happiness came to an end when he was arrested by the Jordanian intelligence and held to answer questions for three days. After that Belawi became more religious and he started to memorize the Quran again.
According to CNN, Bayrak did not know what her husband was doing in Pakistan, but she lied to family for him telling them he was in Turkey.
The interviewer asked, "So you helped trick the family?"
She was straightforward in her answer, "Yes, certainly."
She showed no emotion throughout the interview, except when she discussed her two young children. She spoke of how it would have been nice to have her husband there with her.
When asked about the CIA operative who was a mother-of-three and about that woman's children. Bayrak answered, "For what purpose is CIA in Afghan territories? Why did they invade our lands. I believe she shouldn't have gone there. It's her fault."
She was asked if she had any remorse. "I don't feel any remorse. I don't see any situation to feel remorse about. They came to invade our countries, to kill our brothers who are fighting against them."
