Toyota Motor Corp. said Thursday that the company is recalling 2.3 million cars in the US to correct sticking accelerator pedals.
According to
BBC News, Company spokesman Brian Lyons said the move was due to the vehicles' pedal mechanism becoming worn and, in some cases, getting stuck.
The car models that are affected by this latest recall are: 2009-2010 RAV4, the 2009-2010 Corolla, the 2009-2010 Matrix, the 2005-2010 Avalon, the 2007-2010 Camry, the 2010 Highlander, the 2007-2010 Tundra, and the 2008-2010 Sequioia.
In October, Toyota recalled nearly 4.2 million US cars due to pedals getting lodged under floor mats. Toyota acknowledges that the recall is still ongoing.
Toyota said in a
statement, "Toyota will continue to investigate incidents of unwanted acceleration and take appropriate measures to address any trends that are identified."
