The #12 Georgetown Hoyas ran away from the #9 Pittsburgh Panthers Wednesday night in a back and forth game until the 6 minute mark when the Hoyas pulled free.
The Panthers saw their 31 game home winning streak and an 8 game winning streak come to an end Wednesday night to the Georgetown Hoyas by the score of 74-66.
The Hoyas were led by Chris Wright who scored 27 points. Austin Freeman and Greg Monroe each added 13 points of their own for the Hoyas, Monroe also had 11 rebounds.
The game was tied at 31 all at halftime and while the game went back and forth in the second half it wasn't until the 6 minute mark that the Hoyas took the lead for good and then pulled away.
Both teams shot right around 45 percent from the field, while Georgetown shot 70 percent from behind the the 3-point arch compared to just 22 percent for Panthers. The Hoyas also hit 71 percent from the free throw line again compared to 58 percent.
Gilbert Brown had a career high 20 points for Pitt, but that wasn't enough to carry them to victory.
Pittsburgh will travel to Seton Hall on Sunday the 24th. While the Hoyas will play host to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Saturday the 23rd.
