Described as the “can do” couple, who plan to raise money to pay for their wedding by recycling cans, a Washington duo got an unexpected uncanny gift of 150,000 cans from a large manufacturer.
As reported here, Peter Geyer, 29, and Andrea Parrish, 25, of Spokane, Washington, reside with a living room half-filled with trash bags stuffed with aluminum cans they are collecting to recycle to help pay for their July 31, wedding.
They’re now much closer to their goal after receiving a gift of 150,000 cans from Alcoa, the giant aluminum corporation, as reported by the Spokane Spokesman.
“We were just blown away,” said Andrea. “We expected some local attention. But I woke up the morning the story appeared and saw that I had 43 messages on my BlackBerry. I thought my BlackBerry was broken. The story made the front page of Yahoo and Comcast (Web sites) and it just blew up.”
The can donation gives them about 260,000 containers, and makes them around two-thirds of the way toward their goal.
