The University of North Carolina Tar Heels were 122-19 going into their game Wednesday night against the Clemson Tigers. Some of that changed at Little John Coliseum in Clemson.
The Clemson Tigers haven't known a lot of success against the UNC Tar Heels, but Wednesday night that didn't matter as the #24 Tar Heels faced off against the #12 Tar Heels.
The Tigers led by 18 and half and never trailed in the contest leading by as many as 23 points at one point. The Tigers shot 47.5% from the field compared to 44% for the Tar Heels. Clemson hit seven three-pointers to just three for the Tar Heels.
Trevor Booker lead all scorers with 21 points and he added 9 rebounds as well, which was the most for either side. Dexter Strickland had 17 points while Travis Wear hauled in 8 rebounds.
The victory broke a 10-game losing skid to the Tar Heels. This was the fifth victory in 15 years for the Tigers and they won't have to travel to Chapel Hill where they are 0-54. The Tar Heels have lost 5 of 6 games on the road.
Clemson improved to 2-1 in ACC play as well as 14-3 overall. The Tar Heels slipped to 12-5 and 1-1 in ACC competition.
Both Teams will be back in action on Saturday January 16th, with Clemson visiting N.C. State and the Tar Heels going home to host Georgia Tech.
