By KJ Mullins     Jan 13, 2010 in World
Pastor Pat Robertson has said that the worst disaster in Haiti's history is the result of a "pact with the devil." Robertson is known for blaming God and the devil in times of environmental crises.
After Hurricane Katrina Robertson said that legalized abortion was the cause of the devastation. Now Robertson is blaming the ancestors of Haitians for making a pact with the devil during Wednesday's airing of Christian Broadcasting Network's "The 700 Club.
The National Post reports:
"Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people might not want to talk about it," Robertson said." "They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we will serve you if you'll get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it's a deal."
Legend has it that in 1791 Voodoo rituals took place during a slave rebellion against the French.
Press Association
reports that Robertson spokesperson Chris Roslan said that the pastor's was not blaming God's wrath on the people of Haiti.
