Few conservative columnists are as respected as Charles Krauthammer. Fewer Republican Party members have divided member's support than Sarah Palin.
Dear Fox News:
Well, it looks like you've decided to do the inevitable: hire Sarah Palin as a Fox News contributor. I must say, it perfectly fits your profile: when the credibility gets into question, hire a "news babe".
Although Sarah Palin is hardly any news babe. She was once governor of Alaska for about as long as Obama was a Senator...except he went on to be President. She energized the Republican Party for almost two, maybe three minutes during the 2008 Presidential campaign when John McCain selected her as his Vice Presidential candidate, effectively dismantling his "Obama doesn't have enough experience" argument. She's written books explaining what went wrong during the campaign (almost nothing was her fault). They sell well on your station. I've seen the commercials over and over and over again! The only commercials that play more often on Fox are the gold investment ones. (By the way, if anyone hasn't seen a gold investment commercial, just watch The Glenn Beck Show. Those are his last sponsors.)
So what exactly do you plan to do with Mrs. Palin? Give her a standalone show? That would work. She still has some respect from the conservative woman base. Many young and moderate Republicans still admit to liking her. She is charming. She is witty. She is never at a loss of confidence. Even if your Fair and Balanced network needs just onnnnnne more right-leaning show, Palin could be that answer.
But please, don't do it. Instead, line her up with your most respectable conservative reporter. Please create the Palin-Krauthammer Hour.
Think of it: tough-as nails, no B.S. conservative columnist gets to sit next to witty, charming Republican news babe. Krauthammer, a man of foreign policy expertise and liberal social leanings can chat up the geopolitical landscape with Palin, who once lived real close to Russia. Let Krauthammer have a Q and A about how to re-shape the conservative direction with fundamental beliefs while Palin spouts out more cliches and down-to-Earth witty retorts. And just for fun, invite O'Reilly over for a fireside chat. Heck, even let Glenn Beck come over and watch he and Palin schmooze!
This would be like re-watching the last few years of Regis and Kathy Lee! At best, Mrs. Palin would definitely be more prepared for her 2012 (or 2016) run for office. You can't be much more smarter than Krauthammer. His pedigree is longer than any NFL quarterback named Manning's. He's probably the only person that can skewer and scathe Obama without using the words "socialist" or "liberal". He tells the truth, even when it hurts him.
So Fox News, please consider my request. It is a Fair and Balanced one. The only better show would be the Franken-Beck News Review.
