On Monday Simon Cowell announced that he will no longer be on the hit show 'American Idol' after the current season ends.
Shortly after the network picked up a version of Simon's popular show, which is on British television, "the X-factor" Simon decided to announce that he will be departing American idol once the current season is over.
Simon told sources that he was in talks with the network about doing both shows but the network thought that it would be virtually impossible for him to do both shows as it is not practical.
Fox does not plan of taking Idol off the air because of Cowell's departure and they actually renewed the show for three more seasons.
Cowell also believes that Idol could las more than 15 years and will stay the number one show in America. There is alot of people who work behind the scenes of the show and they are committed to keeping the show at number one.
Rumors swirled around for months that Cowell would be leaving the show soon. Cowell fueled the rumors because of comments Cowell has said during Idol.
Cowell's hit show "the x-factor" will be on the air when American Idol isn't.
The X-factor is a show that is on British TV and Fox picked it up and will have a similar version of it. The X-factor is a contest where singers are discovered but the judges actually get involved in the development of the talent, which the judges on Idol do not.
There are also other changes going on such as Paula Abdul getting replaced by Ellen Degeneres soon. Fellow judge, Randy Jackson, says that he really misses Abdul and that it is getting hard to get use to. He also said that it is becoming a distraction for the show.
As of now Fox is keeping a tight lip and not saying who will be replacing Cowell when he is gone.
