From the home video craze in the 1980s to satellite TV in the 1990s, the porn industry has been a tech leader. Now it wants to join the 3D revolution.
The porn industry is going high tech with 3D videos about to hit the market. The porn industry is known for driving adoption of new entertain delivery systems. This time around it's a home system for 3D videos.
Bad Girls in 3D was unveiled Sunday at a Las Vegas AVN Adult Entertainment Expo featuring a "turnkey digital 3-D viewing system."
Bad Girls don't come as cheaply as they do in real life; this model will set porn viewers back $4,000 for the system and $20 a month for the online video library.
It's not the first time porn has gone 3D. In 1969 the 3-D film "The Stewardess" was shown in theaters for two years. The film grossed $27 million.
3D isn't the only expected new fad for 2010; the industry is working on bringing content to the iPhone.
"We have a way to bring adult content to the iPhone without jail-breaking, hacking or altering your iPhone in any way," said HotTrix co-owner Steve August.
"Apple would not allow us to use its App Store, so we came up with our own."
