A collision between a bus and truck on a major highway in Algeria has killed 15 people and seriously injured 15 more this weekend.
On Sunday, a bus and a truck collided on a major highway in the Ghardaia region of Algeria in the Sahara Desert. The crash killed 15 people and injured 15 more, 5 of which were in serious condition, according to Reuters.
Traveling on national highway number one, the bus drove from El Menea to the administrative center of Ghardaia when it crashed into the truck. The 15 people injured were immediately sent to El Mania’s Chaabani Mohamed Hospital, reports Ennahar Online. The bodies of the victims were sent to the same destination.
The Associated Press notes that an investigation is currently underway. Algeria faces 4,000 deaths from highway crashes per year.
