article imageNew York City Subway will be the site of a Pantless Ride Sunday

By KJ Mullins     Jan 10, 2010 in Travel
New York subway patrons will wear a little less on Sunday during their commute for the annual No Pants Subway Ride. For the eighth year some riders will strip down during their commute this afternoon.
Those who are fearless will gather in preparation to strip off their pants at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at one of six subway stations.
According to Improv Everywhere the station locations are:
Astoria: Meet at Hoyt Playground
Downtown Brooklyn: Meet at Prospect Park
Downtown Manhattan: Meet at Foley Square
Queens: Meet at the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Park
Uptown Manhattan: Meet at the Great Hill in Central Park
Williamsburg / Bushwick: Meet at Bushwick Park (AKA Maria Hernandez Park)
Team leaders will divide those showing up into groups and assign a certain train car. Once the divisions are made it's time to enter the stations.
Participants are not to talk to one another once they have crossed into the subway station.
When you enter the train read a magazine, listen to your iPod or just people watch until the doors shut on the stop before your pre-assigned stop calmly stand up and remove your pants. At your stop exit the train and stay on the platform. Enter the next train that comes pantless.
All stops are expected to converge on Union Station.
Last year there were about 900 riders in New York showing their undies off. Other rides took place across North America in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Toronto and Washington DC.
Please wear underwear. This is not an event for going commando!
