The Cleveland Browns are prepared to announce a new General Manager as early as next Monday. This is after they confirmed that Eric Mangini will be back and they have hired Mike Holmgren.
League sources have told ESPN that the Cleveland Browns are prepared to announce Tom Heckert as their new General Manager on Monday.
Heckert's father Tom Sr. was a scout for the Browns in the 1980s, currently Tom Jr. is working for the the Philadelphia Eagles and he has been cleared to talk with the Browns as soon as the Eagles' season is over.
Heckert has been serving as the General Manager of the Eagles since 2006. He met with new Browns team president Mike Holmgren.
The NFL Network also has reported that Holmgren met with Seattle pro personnel director Will Lewis on Friday, but the GM position is Heckert's.
