article imageDead Playboy Model's Text: 'He's Trying to Kill Me'

By Owen Weldon     Jan 7, 2010 in World
On Sunday a playboy model's burned body was found in a Miami dumpster. She expressed fear of her current boyfriend- texting a former boyfriend saying that " he's trying to kill me."
Richard Watkins, Paula Sladewski's stepfather, who lives in Michigan with Sladewski's mother, told sources that he was not surprised that Kevin Klym, 34, Sladewski's boyfriend, was named a person of interest.
Watkins said that the pair had a horrible relationship and from the start he warned his stepdaughter not to date Klym.
The couple were together for two years and they would argue often. Last month Klym broke Sladewski's nose during an argument and he was arrested.
Watkins has been talking on the phone to Sladewski's ex-boyfriend in California since she disappeared, told sources that Sladewki, 26, would text message her ex-boyfriend that she was afraid of Klym. Watkins said that she would text message messages such as "help me, I'm in trouble, he's trying to kill me."
Watkins last saw his stepdaughter just after Christmas and he said that she seemed to be happy and like her usual self.
Sladewski was so severely burned that officials had to use dental records to identify her. Watkins said that he and his family were all praying that it wasn't her.
Sladewski, who was based in L.A., had been visiting Florida during a holiday with Klym, who reported her missing. Sources say that the couple splits time between Michigan and Rancho Cucamonga, California.
Sladwski went to a Lady Gaga concert on New Year's Eve and spent the weekend visiting nightclubs and bars.
Klym told police that he and Sladewski got into a fight at a nightclub and he was removed from the club in the early hours of Sunday morning. Klym said that was the last time he saw Sladewski. Klym said that after he was kicked out the club, he took a cab back to their Miami Beach hotel.
The model's charred remains were found on Sunday night after a passer-by alerted police to a trash bin on fire in a Miami street.
As of now Klym has been cooperating with police and he is also considered a person of interest because he was the last person to see her alive.
Patsy, Watkin's wife, said that she received a call from Klym, who sounded concern, on Monday saying that her daughter was missing.
Watkins said that he can not understand why Klym would leave her at a nightclub alone because the bar was full of predators. Watkins said that he has no clue as to how Klym could leave her all alone.
Klym denies any involvment in her disappearance and his lawyer said that Klym is devasted and traumatized. His lawyer says that Klym has no involvement whatsoever.
