By KJ Mullins.
Alexander McQueen's next fashion show may have a problem. So far three top fashion models are refusing to wear his armadillo shoes that have a heel that's one foot high.
Citing workplace safety issues the models are refusing to strap on the high heels that are almost impossible to walk in.
Aussie model Abbey Lee Kershaw is one of the three that has nixed working for the Alexander McQueen show. She also fainted at the SS10 show when she wore a corset that was so tight she couldn't breath. On top of that she had to sit out much of the season when she injured her knee at Rodarte last February.
Kershaw is joined by Russian beauties Sasha Pivovarova and Natasha Poly. The two Russian models are also refusing to wear the heels, not willing to risk injury for a walk down the catwalk.
The Independent reports:
Ellie Levenson, author of The Noughtie Girl's Guide to Feminism, said: "I think their refusal to wear these shoes is quite a feminist move, in that feminism is about having the confidence to say no. Designers do influence what women wear and I think it's irresponsible to encourage women to wear excessive and dangerous clothing."
