The NBA is putting on a feast for basketball lovers wtih 5 games to take in between opening presents, Christmas dinner and going to bed.
There are going to be five basketball games on Christmas Day and while children break in their new toys and burn through their first set of batteries in their new toys. Santa is going to leave the basketball lover one more BIG gift in 5 games throughout the day.
The day starts with the Miami Heat at the New York Knicks at 12:00 EST from Madison Square Garden on ESPN. Miami is currently 14-12 and 6.5 games behind the Southeast leading Orlando Magic. The New York Knicks are six games below .500 at 11-17 and 11.5 games behind the Boston Celtics in the Atlantic Division.
Game 2 starts at 2:30pm EST on ABC with the Boston Celtics traveling to warmer climates to face the Orlando Magic. Both teams are sitting atop their divisions with 22 wins. The only difference is their loss records and the Magic having played and lost two more games wtih 7 losses. The Magic are trailed by the Atlanta Hawks by 1.5 games, where as the Celtics have a comfortable 10 game lead.
At 5pm EST is what some are calling the game of the day as there is the Cleveland Cavaliers go west to face the NBA leading Los Angles Lakers at the Staples Center. The Lakers currently hold a 23-4 record compared to the 22-8 Cavalier's record. This game will be on ABC following the Celtics/Magic contest.
The fourth game will feature the other Los Angeles team, the Clippers visiting the Phoenix Suns. This is a Pacific Division match-up with the 12-16 Clippers and the 18-11 Suns. Tip-off is 8pm EST on ESPN.
The nightcap will be a Northwest Division matched of the top placed Denver Nuggets facing off against the second place Portland Trailblazers. There is only 2 games separating the two teams, the Nuggets currently have a 20-9 record compared to the 19-12 Trailblazers record. ESPN will carry this game with its 10:30pm EST tip off.
