article imageTravel much? This salesman has racked-up over 8 million miles

By Gordon K. Chan     Dec 20, 2009 in Travel
Tom Stuker is truly a frequent flier. This year alone, the automobile salesman has flown 700,000 miles and accumulated 8.8 million airline miles.
As the United Airlines top member of the Mileage Plus frequent flier program, Tom Stuker is, in a manner of speaking, at another level.
Stuker, having flown 700,000 miles this year, has made the equivalent of almost three trips to the moon. After 8.8 million total miles, that is more than 350 trips around the world.
ABC reports that airlines provide an exclusive VIP treatment, of an almost secret variety, to these elite customers.
Tom Stuker frequents the airlines so much he never has to wait in lines, gets personally escorted through security, receives free cocktails and other perks.
One industry expert describes Stuker's treatment as "the service that all of us travellers wish we had".
George Clooney's new film Up in the Air, details a similar experience of a consultant who has flown 10 million miles.
