Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao reminisced over his 15 years of professional boxing as he talks of his humble beginnings as a professional boxer and his unwavering trust in the Lord saying there is nothing impossible with prayers.
Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao in his
message to fans and friends after celebrating his 31st birthday in General Santos City, says he is happy with his accomplishment in his boxing career as he looked back to the last 15 years of professional boxing.
On January 22 next year, Pacquiao said he will observe his 15th year in professional boxing starting out at the age of 16.
The pound-for-pound king said that because of poverty he started boxing professionally, fighting experienced and older boxers, despite the dangers that go with the profession. He said he loves the sports and feels happy whenever his hand is raised. He knew then that with his persistence and hard work he will succeed with the use of his bare hands.
Over the last 15 years, the Filipino boxing icon said he owes his life to the good Lord as he bore no traces of physical or mental disorder. He said all his blessings were a result of his unwavering trust in the Lord. Pacquiao said he trust the lord fully and because of his prayers, he can beat even a giant boxer in front of him. With prayers, there's nothing impossible, he said.
The world's most popular boxer said that there was nothing surprising about his last five major fights because the Lord has always been on our side. 'Also, my wife Jinkee and my kids have always been there for me, including my parents, relatives, trainer and friends who have stood by me during my low moments and my quest for glory', the WBO welterweight champion said in his message.
Manny Pacquiao is fresh from his victory over Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto to snatch the WBO welterweight championship belt.
The pound-for-pound king is scheduled to face undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather in what appears to be next year's biggest boxing event. The fight is tentatively scheduled for March 13, 2009 in a venue yet to be named.
