Rome -- Pope Benedict XVI has expedited the sainthood process for the popular Pope. Pope John Paul II's "heroic virtues" have been confirmed and now a committee will review his miracle works.
It has been reported that Pope John Paul is on the "fast track" to sainthood.
At St. Peter's Square in 2005, crowds chanted "santo subito" or "beatify him now" at the Pope's funeral. Pope Benedict has apparently taken this into consideration, as a decree is to be signed to declare veneration for the Pope John Paul II.
Two miracles attributed to the Pope will need to be reviewed. One of these reported miracles was the healing of a French nun with Parkinson's disease.
Usually, a five year waiting period is imposed before beautification. The popular Pope may be made into a saint by fall of 2010.
