NFL: Giants Lose Shootout Against Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles take sole possession of first place in the NFC east division by outscoring the New York Giants on the road.
The Philadelphia Eagles swept the season series this year as they beat the New York Giants 45-38 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The Philadelphia Eagles were in the groove on offense and defense as they jumped out to early 14-0 with Donovan McNabb's 8-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brent Celek and a 60-yard fumble return by Sheldon Brown. The New York Giants showed their competitive edge in the second quarter putting up two touchdowns heir own, but was triumphed by a 72 yard punt return by Eagle's receiver Desean Jackson.
The Eagles finished the second half up 30-17, but lost the lead after the Giants scored two quick touchdowns by Brandon Jacobs and a 61 yard touchdown pass to Domenik Hixon. Philadelphia took a 45-31 lead in the fourth quarter after a Leonard Weaver 1 yard run and a McNabb two point conversion completion.
The Eagle's defense locked down the Giant's offense by not giving up a touchdown till 1:31 left in the fourth quarter. The Eagle's won the game 45-38 and now have sole possession in the NFC east and has secured a spot in the playoffs.
