No. 13 Georgetown takes out No. 16 Washington

No.13 Georgetown Hoyas outlasted the no.16 Washington Huskies 74-66 in the John Wooden Classic held at the Honda Center.
The John Wooden Classic is being played today in Anaheim, California at the Honda Center. The first half of the double header inserted the no.13 Georgetown Hoyas from the Big East conference and e no.16 Washington Huskies from the Pacific 10 conference.
Each team was locked on the defensive end because neither team reached the 20 point mark until there was 6 minutes left in the first half. The Washington Huskies were down at halftime 30-29, but senior forward Quincy Pondexter tried to keep the Huskies in it scoring 11 of those 29 points with 1 assist.
The Georgetown Hoyas played better team ball as all five starters scored in double figures and combined for 13 assists in the game. Julian Vaughn led the team with 18 points and 3 blocks. Big men Greg Monroe of the Hoyas played an all around game filling up the stat sheet with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.
Quincy Pondexter scored a Game high 23 points with 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists and was assisted by guard Isaiah Thomas who added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. The Huskies’ shots were far and few in the second half as the Hoyas's biggest lead was 20. This was the first time ever playing each other and Georgetown proved to be the better team by beating Washington 74-66.
