Suspected underworld figure Wayne Bruce Decaire evaded warrants issued in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and B.C. for six years. Heavily armed RCMP captured him in a remote area near Lillooet, B.C. cops said loaded long guns were everywhere in the home.
LILLOOET, B.C. – A fugitive at large for six years from numerous law enforcement agencies across Canada appears to have been prepared for a battle but an RCMP Emergency Response Team captured the man suspected of having mob connections without a shot being fired.
Wayne Bruce Decaire, wanted on nine outstanding warrants in Alberta, B.C., Ontario and Manitoba, had placed loaded long guns in strategic locations inside a house in a remote area 20 kilometres from Lillooet, RCMP said.
Decaire was located inside a home off Highway 40, some 20-kilometres northwest of Lillooet in the Apple Spings area, Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said.
“Decaire was wanted on several arrest warrants from BC, Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba, including one Canada wide warrant for his arrest stemming from charges in Grand Prairie for breaching release conditions of maintaining residence in Alberta with charges before the courts for Aggravated Assaulted in Grand Prairie,” he said.
“On Friday December 4th, the Lillooet RCMP obtained a judicial order referred to as a “Feenney warrant” which permits police to make entry into a dwelling to execute warrants of arrest,” he said.
“The RCMP Southeast District ERT was utilized given the threat level that the individual was known to pose. ERT mustered in the area early Friday evening and converged on the remote residence arresting Decarie without incident inside at approximately 11:15 p.m.,” he said.
“Investigators had also obtained a search warrant which was executed once Decaire was in custody. Police located and seized several loaded long guns that were strategically placed inside throughout the home,” he said.
“The subsequent search of the residence resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of Marijuana and drug related paraphernalia,” he added.
Decarie’s warrants included the following:
* Grand Prairie, Alta: Aggravated Assaulted. (Canada wide)
* Winnipeg, Man: Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
* Surrey, BC: Assault, Mischief
* Surrey, BC: 3 warrants, Impaired Driving, failing to provide a breath sample and driving while disqualified
* Brave Bridge, Ont: Fail to Appear, B&E, mischief, prohib driving
* Lillooet, BC: Obstruct PO, impersonation.
“Due to Decaire’s known violent history and alleged connections to organized crime, we are pleased that this fugitive is now in police custody after being at large for over six years” stated Cpl. Darrell Robinson of Lillooet RCMP
