The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Miami Heat at Staples Center and win their eighth straight as Kobe buries a three-point shot with seconds left.
The Miami Heat continued their west coast road trip as they headed to Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles Lakers. The Miami Heat is coming off a blow out lost to the Denver Nuggets the night before and was geared up to play against a hot Laker team that won its last seven games.
Two of the best players in the NBA, Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade, entertained the Staples Center crowd all the way to a dazzling finish. The Lakers who had a obvious height advantage over the Heat went to the paint early and often as Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum combined for 41 points and 16 rebounds. Wade had trouble early as he started off the game 0 for 6 from the field.
Things got chippy in the second half when Heat's center Jermaine O'Neal had a thunderous dunk and Lamar Odom didn't take too kindly to the way O'Neal was hanging on the rim. Both players pushed each other and were given technical fouls, but Odom received his second and was sent to the showers early.
Dwayne Wade and Kobe Bryant both lead by example in the fourth quarter by scoring crucial baskets till the end. Kobe Bryant and the Lakers were on the verge of losing the game as Dwayne Wade took matters into his own hands by finding open teammates for good shots and getting to the free throw line almost on command. With 20 seconds left in the game the Heat were up 106-102 and the Lakers had no choice but to extend the game by fouling.
Dwayne Wade sank one out of two free throws and the Heat were up 107-105. Kobe Bryant showed why he is considered to be the best player in the NBA by draining a three point shot with seconds left on the clock and the Lakers won their eight straight game and still have the best record in the league.
Kobe Bryant scored 17 of his 33 points in the fourth quarter with 7 rebounds and 3 assist. Dwayne Wade finish the game strong with a team high 26 points 9 assist and 7 rebounds. The Lakers are on their way to face Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns. Dwayne Wade and the Heat head to Sacramento to try to stop their losing streak.
